Suzuki Jimny LWB Version Global Debut This Year – Rendered

We reported earlier that Maruti Suzuki is preparing a long-wheelbase version of the Jimny lifestyle SUV in 2023. According to the Brazilian media, the Suzuki Jimny LWB version will make global debut in 2022. In fact, the company has started testing the production version of the SUV in Europe.

The European-spec Suzuki Jimny is a 3-door model with 4×4 traction and capable of tackling tough roads. However, the SUV is only available as a commercial vehicle in Europe due to emission norms. The new model will ride on longer wheelbase and will be longer than the outgoing model. Based on the spy images, folks at motor1 have released a new set of renderings of the Suzuki Jimny LWB version.

The new Suzuki Jimny LWB version is based on the 3-door Sierra lifestyle SUV, which is on sale in select international markets. The front fascia of the new model will look largely identical to the Sierra; however, it will have Suzuki’s new grille and headlamp set-up. The majority of the changes will be made on the side.

The new Suzuki Jimny LWB will gain rear doors to maintain a very square shape. Adding to it, Suzuki will also place a third window that will be in the same row as the boot. The SUV will have 300mm longer wheelbase and the length will be increased by 300mm. The lengthening of the wheelbase should lead to an increase for both the boot and the second row of seats.

It will have a wheelbase of 2,550mm, while the ground clearance stands at 210mm. The SUV is reportedly to have a kerb weight of 1,190kg, which is 100kgs higher than the 3-door Sierra.

The Suzuki Jimny LWB will be powered by a 1.5-litre K15C Dual Jet petrol engine with a mild hybrid tech. This engine is capable of producing 103bhp of power and 137Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.  This engine currently powers the new Brezza, which is now claimed to offer 20.15kmpl with manual gearbox and 19.80kmpl with automatic transmission.
