Strom R3 Electric Could Be Priced at Rs 4.5 lakh; Bookings To Open Soon
Strom Motors had unveiled the entry-level Strom R3 electric car in 2018. A new media report suggests that this electric car could be priced around Rs 4.5 lakh (ex-showroom). It was planned to be launched in March 2020; however, the launch has been postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic. Bookings for the top-end R3 electric car is expected to open soon.
The Strom R3 is a two-door electric car with three wheels, which uses reverse trike configuration with single wheel at the rear and two wheels up front. In terms of proportions, the small electric car is 2,907mm long, 1,405mm wide and 1,572mm tall and has a ground clearance of 185mm. This model has a kerb weight of 550kg.
The Strom R3 Electric is designed and developed for the urban centres including Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. This car has edgy design with features like muscular front bumper, LED lights, rear spoiler and dual-tone colors with a white roof, and a sunroof. It rides on 13-inch steel wheels covered with 155/80 section tyres.
Inside the cabin, the Strom R3 electric car is offering two seat layouts – two captain seats or a single bench seat for 3. It features 12-way adjustable driver’s seat, a 4.3-inch touchscreen digital instrument cluster, power windows, climate control, remote keyless entry and others. It gets a 7-inch vertically stacked touchscreen infotainment system with an IOT-enabled Continuous Monitoring System and 4G connectivity, voice control, gesture control, 20GB onboard music storage and turn-by-turn navigation with voice.
The Strom R3 is designed in a way to offer 400-litres of luggage carrying capacity with 300-litres at the rear and 100-litres at the front. It is based on a high-strength steel space frame. For braking, the entry-level electric car has two hydraulic disc brakes at the front and a drum brake at the rear. It will come with a 1 year / 15,000 km warranty.
The Strom R3 is propelled by an electric motor that produces 20bhp and 90Nm and a lithium-ion battery. It has regenerative braking and offers 3 driving modes – Eco, Normal and Sports. It is claimed to achieve a top speed of up to 80kmph. The entry-level car is claimed to offer a range of up to 200 km on a single charge. The battery takes 3 hours to fully charge.
