Skoda Sub-4 Metre SUV, 6/7-Seater SUV Under Consideration For India

Skoda Auto India recently launched the Slavia mid-size sedan to challenge Honda City, Maruti Ciaz and Hyundai Verna. Initially, the company announced prices of the 1.0L TSI petrol variants that start at Rs 10.69 lakh and go up to Rs 15.39 lakh (all, ex-showroom). At this price point, the Skoda Slavia undercuts the Honda City by Rs 30,000 – Rs 50,000.

The 1.5L TSI petrol will see a release on 3rd March 2022. While the 1.0L, 3-cylinder TSI petrol motor is good for 115bhp and 175Nm, the 1.5L, 4-cylinder petrol unit makes 150bhp and 250Nm. The company aims to sell around 2500 – 3000 units of its new sedan on monthly basis and take a hold on segment share of over 30-35 percent.

Skoda Compact SUV

Zac Hollis, Director, Sales and Marketing Skoda India, has revealed that the company is also exploring a sub-4 metre SUV and a three-row SUV for the Indian market. While the former will be positioned against the cars like Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and Maruti Suzuki Brezza, the latter is expected to rival Kia Carens and Hyundai Alcazar. As of now, there is no official word on the upcoming products and their launch timeline.

The Czech automaker also aims to foray into the electric vehicle (EV) segment via CKD (completely knocked down) route. Though, the final decision is yet to be taken. If reports are to be believed, Skoda Enyaq electric SUV will be the first EV from the Czech automaker in the country.

Designed on the MEB platform, the model comes with multiple battery packs including 55kWh and 77kW – delivering range of 340km and 510km respectively. It’s also available in a sportier RS version that comes with AWD system and delivers power worth 225kW. The model can do 0 to 100kmph in 6.2 seconds and offers a maximum speed of 180kmph.
