Skoda Slavia mid-size sedan has finally been launched in the country. One must note that the company has announced prices of its 1.0L TSI petrol variants, while the more powerful 1.5L TSI petrol model will go on sale on 3rd March 2022. The sedan model lineup is spread across three trims – Active, Ambition and Style and its 1.0L petrol variants have been made available within the price range of Rs 10.69 lakh – Rs 15.39 lakh (all, ex-showroom).
In its segment, the new Skoda sedan will compete against the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. The Slavia comes as a replacement to the Skoda Rapid in India.

The sedan’s 1.0L, 3-cylinder TSI petrol engine pushes out a maximum power of 115bhp and 175Nm of torque. It can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. On the other hand, the 1.5L, 4-cylinder TSI petrol motor delivers a claimed power of 150bhp and 250Nm of torque. This gasoline unit will be available with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The more powerful petrol engine is reserved for the range-topping Style trim.
Besides engines, the Skoda Slavia sedan shares its suspension setup with the Kushaq SUV. Though, the automaker has slightly tweaked its suspension units for improving its comfort quotient. It’s the second Skoda model to be based on the MAB A0 IN platform that also underpins the Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun. The overall length, width and height of the Slavia stand at 4541mm, 1752mm and 1487mm respectively. The new sedan sits on the longest wheelbase of its segment measuring 2651mm. With long wheelbase, the model ensures ample cabin space and boot space of 520-litres (best-in-segment).
In terms of design and styling, the new Skoda Slavia looks more premium than its replacement – i.e. Rapid sedan. Upfront, the model carries the brand’s signature grille flanked by sleek LED headlamps. It also features L-shaped DRLs, 16-inch alloys, slopping roofline and C-shaped LED taillamps. Interior of the new Skoda sedan has been packed with lots of features including a new 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
The list of features also includes a premium audio system with 6-speakers and a sub-woofer, connected car tech, a digital instrument cluster, an electric sunroof, leatherette upholstery, automatic climate control, ventilated seats, auto headlamps and auto wipers. On the safety front, the sedan offers 6 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), an electronic differential system (EDS), a rear parking camera and hill hold control.
