Skoda Slavia To Offer Sunroof, New Steering – Honda City Rival

Skoda Auto has confirmed three new product launches for the Indian market, namely, new-generation Octavia, Kushaq mid-size SUV and a new mid-size sedan. Codenamed Skoda ANB, the new sedan is slated to hit roads towards the end of 2021. While its official production name is yet to be revealed, the final model is reported to be named ‘Skoda Slavia’.

– The new Skoda sedan will underpin Volkswagen-Skoda Group’s India-specific MQB A0 IN platform. The same architecture will be used for the upcoming Kushaq and VW Taigun SUVs.

– Design of the Slavia will share resemblance to the Rapid that’s sold in the Russian market. Upfront, the model features the signature grille flanked by projector headlamps, sporty bumper and halogen turn indicators and fog lamp assembly. While its body panels could be similar to the upcoming Volkswagen Virtus, the rear profile will be similar to the new Octavia.

– Interior details of the Skoda Slavia are scanty. If reports are to be believed, the sedan might borrow a bunch of features from the Kushaq SUV. The latest spy pictures confirm that it will feature the brand’s new two-spoke steering wheel and a sunroof.

– The new Skoda Slavia sedan could be offered with two petrol engines. There could be a 1.0L TSI turbo unit that’s good for 113bhp and 175Nm and a 1.5L turbo motor pushing out 147bhp and 250Nm.

– The higher trim will get the 1.5L TSI turbo engine with the 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox options. The smaller capacity petrol unit will be available with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic transmission.

– The new Slavia sedan is estimated to be priced between Rs 11 lakh – Rs 16 lakh. Here, it will be placed against the cars like Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
