Korean automaker, Kia has officially revealed the new generation 2022 Kia Sportage SUV. The fifth generation Sportage is the second model designed on the brand’s new ‘Opposites United’ ideology; the EV6 was the first model based on the new ideology. The design philosophy will influence all the future Kia models.
The new-gen model comes with all-new exterior and interior along with new features. The 2022 Kia Sportage was jointly designed and developed by Kia’s research centres in Korea, Germany, China and the USA. 2022 Kia Sportage Design
The new Sportage comes with significantly different design. The SUV comes with a signature black tiger-nose front grille, which is flanked by newly styled boomerang-shaped LED DRLs. It gets prominent LED headlamps, while the fog lamps are placed on the lower bumper. The SUV gets dual-tone black and silver finish lower bumper that accommodates fog lamps as well as wider air-dam.
There is a chrome strip that runs below the window line kinking on the D-pillar. The SUV gets black roof, pronounced rear wheel arches, ORVMs with integrated blinkers, black plastic cladding all-around the body and body-coloured door-handles.
At the back, the 2022 Kia Sportage gets new split LED tail-lamps that extends to the side body. There is a thin body-line that connects the two tail-lights. It gets roof-integrated spoiler with stop lamp, and a dual-tone lower bumper. The lower bumper is finished in black with wide silver strip running across the width.

The cabin of the Sportage SUV is simple yet functional. The instrument console and the touchscreen display are mounted on the same panel, which is angled towards the driver. The single display unit looks similar to the one offered in the Mercedes-Benz, and the similar setup will also be offered on the upcoming Mahindra XUV700. Two horizontal 3D aircon vents are placed horizontally below the display, while the other AC vents are placed vertically at both ends of the screen.
The central console offers space for cup holders, operating system configurations, soft-touch switches along with the new shift-by-wire transmission dials. Chrome trim can be seen all around the cabin. The rear of the driver and front passenger seats are integrated hanger-type designs within the slim headrests, which allows clothing and handbags to be easily and conveniently hooked into place.
The SUV also gets a new top-spec Sportage X-Line that offers a more aggressive exterior styling along with a differently finished interior. It will get new signature green or black seating. Kia is yet to reveal the engine specifications and feature-details of the new Sportage.
