Skoda Slavia Design Sketches Released; Looks Elegant

The first official design sketches of the new Skoda Slavia mid-sized sedan has been released ahead of its global debut on November 18, 2021. The new model will replace the ageing Rapid sedan, which has recently received a new Matte Edition. It is the third model based on VW Group’s new MQB AO IN platform after the Skoda Kushaq and the VW Taigun.

The new Skoda Slavia sedan is expected to be launched in the second quarter of 2022, most probably in April-May. The new teaser shows the elegant exterior styling of the new Slavia sedan. The vehicle gets the brand’s new design language, and looks like a smaller Octavia.

The new Skoda Slavia has low front end with inspiration from Octavia. It features a wide, hexagonal grille and sleek headlamps with L-shaped Daytime Running Lights. The side profile looks elegant with crisp lines and strong beltline that runs through the width to merge the tail-lights. Chrome window line, sleek ORVMs with integrated blinkers and blacked-out pillars complements the overall profile.

It gets coupe-like silhouette with sloping roofline that merges well into the boot lid. The sedan gets a dual-tone, five-spoke alloy wheels. At the back, the new Skoda Slavia features the brand’s C-shaped tail-lights that extends into the boot. There is a full width chrome strip on the lower bumper.

Skoda Slavia Dimensions & Engine Specs

Dimensionally, the new Slavia is 4,541mm long, 1,752mm wide and 1,487mm tall and has a segment-largest wheelbase of 2,651mm. Compared to the Rapid, the new Slavia is 128mm longer, 53mm wider and 21mm taller, and has 100mm larger wheelbase.

It will be offered with two engine options –  a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol. While the former is good for 115PS and 175Nm of torque, the later produces 150PS and 250Nm of torque. For transmission duties, the sedan will get a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, a 6-speed torque convertor automatic with 1.0L petrol and a 7-speed DSG automatic with 1.5L petrol.

Estimated Price, Competition

Estimated to be priced around Rs 10 lakh to Rs 16 lakh, the new Skoda Slavia will rival the segment-leaders including the Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the Honda City. The company is yet to reveal the interiors of the Slavia; however, it will have similarities with the new Kushaq. The sedan will come with high-end safety and security features like 6 airbags, a rear parking camera, cruise control, multi-collision brake, ABS with EBD, etc.
