The much-awaited Skoda Slavia mid-sized sedan will make global debut on November 18, 2021. The new Slavia sedan will come as a replacement for the ageing Rapid sedan, which has recently received a matte edition as a final model. The company has officially announced that the new Slavia will be launched in the first half of 2022.
The new Skoda Slavia sedan will be based on the heavily localised MQB AO IN platform that underpins the Kushaq mid-sized SUV and the VW Taigun. In fact, VW will also introduce the Virtus based mid-sized sedan in our market in the second quarter of 2022. It will rival the likes of the Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the new Honda City sedan.
In terms of proportions, the new Skoda Slavia is 4,541mm in length, 1,752mm in width and 1,487mm in height. The sedan rides on 2,651mm wheelbase, which is segment largest. Compared to the Rapid, the new Slavia is 128mm longer, 53mm wider and 21mm taller, and has 100mm larger wheelbase.
The new Skoda Slavia mid-sized sedan will source the engine and gearbox combinations with the Kushaq SUV. It will come with two engine options – a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol. While the former is good for 115PS and 175Nm of torque, the later produces 150PS and 250Nm of torque. For transmission duties, the sedan will get a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, a 6-speed torque convertor automatic with 1.0L petrol and a 7-speed DSG automatic with 1.5L petrol.

The new Slavia mid-sized sedan design highlights will include a signature butterfly grille with black verticals and chrome surround, sweptback LED projector headlamps, LED tail-lights, a shark fin antenna, a notchback-like sloping roofline and ORVMs with integrated blinkers.
The sedan will source interior components and features from the Kushaq. It will get a factory-fitted electric sunroof, a large touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink connectivity, automatic AC, a digital instrument console and a multi-functional steering wheel. For safety and security, the new Slavia will get six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, reverse camera, and others.
