Skoda Auto India has finally marked its entry into the mid-size SUV segment with the all-new Kushaq. Based on the Vision IN concept, the new SUV is the first production-ready Skoda designed on the localized Volkswagen Group’s MQB AO IN platform. The same architecture underpins the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun. In the mid-size SUV space, the Skoda Kushaq takes head-to-head against the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Here’s a brief price and feature-based comparison between these three SUVs.

– The newly-launched Skoda SUV is being offered in a total of 7 variants spread across three trims – Active, Ambition and Style.
– Priced at Rs 10.49 lakh, the entry-level Active variant comes with 115bhp, 1.0L TSI petrol engine and 6-speed manual gearbox. The Ambition 1.0L manual and automatic variants are available at Rs 12.79 lakh and Rs 14.19 lakh respectively. The top-end Style trim can be had with all four engine-gearbox options that cost between Rs 14.59 lakh – Rs 17.59 lakh.
– The Kushaq’s base variant is more expensive than the entry-level Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos models.
– The fully-loaded Creta SX (O) turbo dual-tone variant has been priced at Rs 17.70 lakh and the Seltos GTX+ DCT petrol costs Rs 17.44 lakh. That means, the Kushaq top-end Style 1.5L AT variant is cheaper than the Creta, but expensive than the Seltos.

– On the feature front, the Skoda Kushaq offers wireless charger, ventilated front seats, climate control, rear AC vents, cruise control, keyless entry, push button start, ambient lighting, auto headlamps, rain sensing wipers and a sunroof. All these aforementioned features are also available on the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
– The new Skoda SUV comes equipped with 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Its arch rivals have larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit. The Creta comes with the panoramic sunroof option.
– While the Creta and Seltos get the premium Bose 8-speaker audio system, the Kushaq comes with 6-speaker music system with subwoofer. The latter has only telematics connected features.
– The Kushaq misses out on some important features such as electrically adjustable seat, head-up display, reclining rear seats, rear door sun blinds and digital driver’s display.
– For the safety provision, all three SUVs offer 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability program (standard only on Kushaq), hill hold control, traction control and tyre pressure monitoring system. Skoda’s new SUV and Creta are devoid of blind spot monitor, which is offered on the Seltos.
– While the Kushaq has front and rear parking sensors with rear camera, the Creta offer rear parking sensors with the rear camera. The Seltos gets front and rear sensors with 360 degree camera.

– The new Skoda mid-size SUV can be had with 1.0L and 1.5L TSI turbocharged petrol engines, which are good enough for 115bhp and 175Nm and 150bhp and 250Nm respectively. The latter comes with 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox options. The Kushaq is the most powerful petrol SUV in its segment.

– The Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos are available with the 1.5L petrol and 1.4L turbo petrol motors pushing out 115bhp with 144Nm and 140bhp with 242Nm respectively. Transmission options include 6-speed manual, CVT automatic and 7-speed DCT automatic.
