Skoda Kushaq, the newly-launched mid-size SUV from the Czech automaker, has received over 15,000 bookings so far. The SUV model lineup is being offered in three trims – Active, Ambition and Style – two petrol engine options – 1.0L TSI and 1.5L TSI. Transmission duties are done by the 6-speed automatic and 7-speed DCT automatic gearboxes. Now, the company has silently increased price of the entry-level 1.0L Active manual variant by Rs 30,000. After the price hike, it costs Rs 10.79 lakh. One must note that prices of other variants remain unchanged. That means, Ambition 1.0L TSI MT and AT variant are continue to be available at Rs 12.79 lakh and Rs 14.19 lakh respectively. The Style 1.0L MT, 1.0L AT, 1.5L MT and 1.5L AT variants are available at Rs 14.59 lakh, Rs 15.79 lakh, Rs 16.19 lakh and Rs 17.59 lakh respectively. All aforementioned prices are ex-showroom.
As mentioned above, the Skoda Kushaq comes with the 1.0L, 3-cylinder TSI petrol and 1.5L, 4-cylinder TSI petrol engines making 115bhp with 178Nm and 150bhp with 250Nm respectively. While former can do 0 to 100kmph in 10.6 seconds in manual and 11.7 seconds in automatic gearbox guise, the latter accelerates 0-100kmph in 8.6 seconds with both gearboxes. Both motors can be had with a 6-speed manual gearbox. While a 6-speed torque converter transmission is reserved for the 1.0L TSI variants, a 7-speed DSG gearbox is exclusively offered with the 1.5L TSI models. The company says that Kushaq’s 1.5L TSI engine has cylinder deactivation technology that enhances its fuel efficiency.
Reports suggest that the company might bring in a new range-topping Skoda Kushaq Monte Carlo trim in near future. The model could be offered with the 1.5L TSI petrol engine only. It might get sporty seats with contrast stitching, a digital instrument cluster and more goodies.
