New Yamaha R15 S V3 Price Rs 1.57 Lakh; Gets Single-Piece Seat

Yamaha Motor India today rolled out the new R15S V3 at Rs 1,57,600 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Compared to the R15 V4.0 that costs between Rs 1.71 lakh – Rs 1.83 lakh, the new Yamaha R15S V3 is around Rs 14,000 – Rs 26,000 more affordable. All aforementioned prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. Speaking at the launch, Motofumi Shitara, Chairman at Yamaha Motor India Group, said that the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 has always been favoured for its “advanced technology and features”. On customers’ demand, the company has introduced the new Yamaha R15 S with a Unibody Seat.

The new Yamaha R15 S has been offered in a single colour option – Racing Blue. No other changes have been made to the bike. It comes with a multi-function LCD instrument cluster with gear shift indicator, a side stand indicator with engine cut-off function, dual channel ABS (anti-lock braking system), assist and slipper clutch. Though, it misses out on the quick shifter and traction control.

Yamaha R15 S Features

For power, the new Yamaha R15 S uses the same 155cc, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, 4V engine with SOHC and VVA (variable valve actuation) setup. The motor delivers a claimed power of 18.34bhp at 10,000rom and 14.1Nm of torque at 8,500rpm. Transmission duties are performed by a 6-speed gearbox. The bike has a Super Wide 140/70-R17 radial rear tyre. Its overall length, width and height stand at 1990mm, 725mm and 1135mm respectively. The R15 S has a gross weight of 142kgs.

Talking about Yamaha’s future plan, the company will foray into the electric vehicle segment. However, it will first focus on hybrid technology. Recently, Yamaha introduced the Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid and RayZR 125 Fi Hybrid scooters. It also aims to bring in the new premium 125cc scooter and 150cc-250cc bikes in coming years. Yamaha’s new premium bike and scooter range will target new and experienced riders.
