Skoda Kushaq is surely one of the most important launches from the Czech automaker in India. It’s not only the brand’s first model to be designed on the MQB AO IN platform, but the first product to roll out under VW Group’s India 2.0 project as well. The carmaker aims to achieve around 92% localization right from the start of production and it will gradually go as high as 95%. That means, the Kushaq prices will be quite competitive against the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Its official prices are scheduled to be revealed on 28th June, followed by its deliveries in July 2021.
Ahead of its market arrival, the carmaker has revealed its interior layout and feature details. One of its major attractions is the 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It will have some specific features such as My Skoda App, a valet mode, driving analysis module and profile maintenance ability.
The display will also work as a rear view camera monitor with distance guidelines. The ambient lighting can also be controlled via infotainment display. For the safety provision, the Skoda Kushaq offers 6 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill hold control, tyre pressure monitoring system, Isofix seats at the rear, rain sensing wipers, automatic headlamps and more. The new Skoda SUV will come in 5 exterior paint options, namely, Carbon Steel, Honey Orange, Tornado Red, Brilliant Silver and Candy White.
The Kushaq can be had with either a 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol or a 1.5L, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine. While the smaller capacity unit makes 113bhp, the bigger one delivers 147bhp. Reports suggest that deliveries of the Kushaq 1.5L variants will begin August 2021. There will be three gearboxes on offer – 6-speed manual (standard), 6-speed torque convertor automatic (for 1.0L petrol only) and 7-speed DSG (for 1.5L petrol only).
