Czech automaker, Skoda has officially started deliveries of the more powerful version of the Kushaq mid-sized SUV. The Skoda Kushaq 1.5L has also started reaching dealerships for customer previews and test drives. Launched on June 28, 2021, the Kushaq mid-sized SUV directly rivals the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks and the soon-to-be-launched VW Taigun and the MG Astor.
Commenting on the commencement of Kushaq 1.5L deliveries, Zac Hollis, Brand Director, Skoda Auto India said, “We are extremely thrilled to commence the deliveries of the 1.5L TSI Kushaq to customers. The fact that the 1.5L TSI engine can deliver 150 PS and 250 Nm of torque with a fuel efficiency of 17.95 kmpl is an incredible testament to the power of TSI and the technologically advanced ACT system. The Kushaq is a vehicle specially designed and Made in India. We are overwhelmed by the outstanding response to the car across India. I urge more and more customers to visit our showrooms and test drive the vehicle.”
The Skoda Kushaq is the first product launched under the Volkswagen Group’s new India 2.0 strategy. It is based on the locally developed MQB AO IN platform, which also underpins the VW Taigun. In fact, the upcoming Skoda Slavia sedan and the India-spec Volkswagen Virtus will be based on the same platform.
The Skoda Kushaq is offered in two engine options – a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol. While the former is good for 113bhp and 178Nm of torque, the 4-cylinder turbo unit produces 148bhp and 250Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque convertor automatic (1.0L Only), and a 7-speed DSG with 1.5L engine.
The Skoda Kushaq 1.5L with manual and automatic claims to return an ARAI certified fuel economy of 17.95 kmpl and 17.71 kmpl respectively. Available in 3 trim levels – Active, Ambition and Style, the new Kushaq is priced between Rs 10.50 lakh and Rs 17.60 lakh. Skoda India has officially announced that the Kushaq has received over 6000 bookings since its launh on June 28, 2021.
