Simple One, the flagship electric scooter from the Bengaluru-based startup, has received a motor upgrade that enhances its performance and efficiency. The company claims that efficiency of its motor has been improved up to 96 percent along with enhancing its performance and thermal management. The scooter comes with the 4.8kW battery pack and a 4.8kW motor delivering power worth 4.5kW and 72Nm of torque.
Now, the electric scooter is said to accelerate 0 to 40kmph in 2.85 seconds, which is slightly (0.10 second) faster than before. It offers four riding modes – Eco, Rain, Dash and Sonic. Its top speed stands at 105kmph. In Eco mode, the Simple One offers a claimed range of over 200km. Its battery pack takes 2.7 hours to get charged 0 to 80 percent via a home charger. Customers can charge it for 2.5km in one minute through fast charging.
In the first phase, the e-scooter will be manufactured at the company’s Hosur based plant in Tamil Nadu. The facility has an annually capacity of up to 1 million units. Simple Energy has also commissioned one more plant in Tamil Nadu (Dharmapuri), which has a capacity to produce 12.5 million units on annual basis. Priced at Rs 1.09 lakh (ex-showroom), the Simple One electric scooter comes with a 7-inch touchscreen display with IP67 certification and Bluetooth connectivity. It offers 30-litre underseat storage capacity. For braking purposes, the e-scooter has a 200mm disc up front and a 190mm disc at the rear. It’s further boosted with combined braking system and regenerative braking system. Its suspension setup includes a telescopic fork and a monoshock unit at the front and rear axles respectively.
