Simple Energy today rolled out its first electric scooter in the country. Called the Simple One, the electric scooter has been priced at Rs 1,09,999 (ex-showroom). With states and FAME 2 subsidies, the price of Simple One electric scooter will be significantly lower in some states. It directly rivals the newly launched Ola S1 e-scooter, Ather 450X and others in the segment.
With the official debut, the company has started accepting pre-orders for a sum of Rs 1,947. Initially, the new Simple electric scooter will be available across 13 states including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Delhi, Maharashtra, Goa, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. In the first phase, one million units of the e-scooter will be produced on annual basis at the company’s Hosur plant in Tamil Nadu.
For power, the new Simple One electric scooter uses a 4.8kWh lithium-ion battery that weighs over 6kgs. The battery is detachable and portable in nature, and will make it convenient to charge the e-scooter battery at homes. It will come with a Simple Loop Charger, which will charge the One electric scooter to offer a range of up to 2.5km in just 60 seconds. Simple Energy will also install more than 300 public fast chargers across the country in the next 3-4 months.
The new Simple One e-scooter battery offers 72Nm of torque, and is claimed to achieve 0 to 40kmph acceleration in just 2.95 seconds. It is claimed to be the fastest in its category, as the newly launched OLA S1 Pro achieves 0-60kmph in 3 seconds. The new Simple One e-scooter offer a range of 203 kilometers in eco mode on a single charge, and 236 km in IDC conditions. The scooter offers a top speed of 105kmph, and o to 50kmph sprint in just 3.6 seconds.
The new Simple One electric scooter is offered in 4 colour options – Brazen Black, Azure White, Brazen White and Red. It offers an underseat storage space of 30-litres, which is around 8-litres more than the Ather 450X. The latter one comes with a storage space of 22-litres.
The scooter rides on 7-inch customisable digital dashboard with on-board navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, geo fencing, SOS message, document storage, tyre pressure monitoring system and others. Design of the new Simple electric scooter is quite futuristic. The model carries a triangular headlamp with a triangular LED DRL at the front. Other styling elements include black grab rail, handlebar mounted turn indicators.
