Royal Enfield Scrambler 650cc Caught Testing In India For 1st Time

Royal Enfield is working on a new range of 650cc motorcycles for the Indian as well as global markets. The company’s new 650cc Scrambler has been spotted testing in the country for the first time. The new Scrambler was earlier spotted testing on foreign soil. RE has made some changes to the bodywork; however, the basic structure remains the same.

The Royal Enfield Scrambler with 648cc parallel-twin engine was recently caught testing in UK. The one spied in India comes with a couple of noteworthy differences since last time. The motorcycle gets a conventional, upside-down triangle shaped side panel, which looks similar to the Interceptor 650. The previous model had a large oval section on the side panels.

There is a small flyscreen up front for wind protection, which was earlier missing. This could be offered as an accessory. The front of the light features a section that’s painted in red, which suggest that RE could offer auxiliary lights as part of its official accessories catalogue.

Except for these two big changes, the rest of the bike has remained largely unchanged. The motorcycle features the 2-into-1 exhaust system, which will be first for RE’s 650 line-up. The RE Scrambler 650cc rides on wire-spoke alloy wheels in off-road sizes, with the front wheel appears larger than the rear. It will come with an upside-down front fork as standard.

The new Scrambler will be powered by a 650cc twin-cylinder engine that produces 47bhp and 52Nm of torque. Royal Enfield is expected to tune this engine to suit the needs of a cruiser motorcycle. For braking, the bikes will get disc brakes at both ends and dual-channel ABS as standard. The new motorcycles will feature semi-digital instrument console, slipper clutch with Assist, and the Tripper Navigation system.
