Royal Enfield has been a dominant force in the middleweight motorcycle segment, driven by its aggressive product strategy. Now, it appears that the company is looking to broaden its business scope by venturing into the pre-owned or used bike sector. Recently, RE trademarked the name ‘Reown,’ which is likely to serve as the brand name for its pre-owned bike business.
With the introduction of the Reown brand, the company aims to establish a secure purchasing platform, backed by Royal Enfield’s signature seal of approval. Pre-owned bikes sold under the RE Reown brand will undergo thorough quality checks and could come with a limited time warranty. While Royal Enfield shares the used motorcycle market with competitors like Triumph and Ducati, these brands primarily offer premium machines. The Chennai-based motorcycle manufacturer will be the first two-wheeler brand to offer certified pre-owned bikes at a lower price point.
In addition to entering the pre-owned bike market, Royal Enfield is gearing up to launch two new motorcycles within a span of one month. The new-generation RE Bullet 350 is scheduled to go on sale on September 1st, while the RE Himalayan 450 will hit the roads on November 1st, 2023. According to leaked details, the all-new Bullet 350 will be available in three variants – Military (in Red and Black colors), Standard (in Black and Maroon shades), and Black Gold. The bike will be powered by a new 350cc J-Series engine, producing 20.2bhp and 27Nm of torque. The company will offer a standard warranty of 3 years/30,000km, which can be extended to 2 years/20,000km or 5 years/50,000km.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 will mark the brand’s debut in using a liquid-cooled engine, an all-LED lighting system, and USD front forks. Interestingly, it will also be the first bike in its segment to feature a three-in-one taillamp with two LED flashers that function as indicators, turn signals, and brake lights – a setup similar to what we’ve seen in the BMW S 1000RR.
