New Yezdi Roadking India Launch Timeline: More Details Emerge

Mahindra owned Classic Legends revived the Jawa company in late 2018. The company currently sells three motorcycles – Jawa Classic, Jawa 42 and the Jawa Perak. Classic Legends will also revive the iconic Yezdi as well as BSA Motorcycles. While Yezdis will be introduced in India, the first BSA Motorcycle will be introduced in Europe.

Classic Legends is reportedly to introduce the iconic Yezdi Motorcycle brand before the end of this year. It is expected that the first Yezdi could be launched during festive season, around Diwali. The company is currently testing a scrambler motorcycle, which is likely to be the first Yezdi in our market.

What’s interesting is that Classic Legends has trademarked the Yezdi Roadking name in India. It is expected that the new scrambler will be called the Roadking. For people not in the know, the Yezdi Roadking was produced by Ideal Jawa Ltd based out of Mysore between 1978 and 1996. Based on the CZ 250 motocross bike, the Roadking had won several Indian rallies and road races.

The new Yezdi Roadking will look like a modern day scrambler. Going by the spy images, it is visible that the motorcycle gets rear tyre hugger, narrow tail-end and slim flat ribbed seat. The spotted bike had twin exhausts, round headlamp, and taller handlebar. The production-ready motorcycle will come with LED lighting system.

Interestingly, the engine casing of the motorcycle looks identica to the iconic Yezdi Roadking of the past. The radiator, engine head and the bash plate looks identical to the existing Jawa bikes. The spotted bike was equipped with blacked out spoke wheels with bigger front wheel. The new motorcycle will get dual-channel ABS system as standard. It will also feature a digital instrument console.

The new Yezdi Roadking bike is expected to feature the same 293cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that powers the Jawa. Paired to a 6-speed gearbox, this engine produces 26.51bhp of power and 27Nm of torque. The Jawa Perak comes with a more powerful 30bhp, 344cc engine, which is paired to a 6-speed gearbox.
