Royal Enfield Trademarked 5 New Names For Its Upcoming Models

In the recent times, Royal Enfield has trademarked multiple nameplates for its upcoming models including Shotgun, Hunter, Sherpa, Flying Flea and Roadster. As of now, there is no official information which name will be used for which new product. We have seen several test mules of the upcoming new Royal Enfield bikes including two new 350cc motorcycles, 650cc cruiser and the new-generation Classic 350. Let us take a look at each of the new trademarked name, but bear in mind these are speculations for now. Official information will be revealed in near future.

Royal Enfield Shotgun

Reports suggest that the Chennai-based bikemaker will use the Shotgun nameplate for its upcoming 650cc cruiser. The new model is likely to share its engine with the RE Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 – i.e. 47bhp, 649cc, twin-cylinder motor. Though, its wheelbase might be longer than the 650cc twins. The spy pictures reveal that that the RE Shotgun will feature split seats, a wider handle bar, fatter rear fender, rounded taillamps, turn indicators and a twin pipe exhaust system. Suspension and braking mechanism is likely to be similar to the 650cc twins.

Royal Enfield Meteor

Royal Enfield Hunter

RE Hunter could be the upcoming 350cc motorcycle based on the RE Meteor 350. It will share platform and a few design elements with its donor sibling. Though, the spotted test mule reveals that the bike will have shorter and differently designed exhaust system. The black treatment on the suspension setup, engine case, handlebar, 17-inch front and rear black wheels and upward sweeping exhaust canister enhance its sporty appearance. The RE Hunter is likely to come with the Meteor’s new 349cc, air-cooled engine that’s good for 202bhp and 27Nm of torque.

Royal Enfield Sherpa

Earlier reports claim that the Chennai-based bikemaker is working on a new model aiming at younger buyers and women riders. It will be a lightweight and affordable bike with a lower seat height. Its final production version might come with the name tag of RE Sherpa. One must note that the Sherpa was a lightweight RE bike in the 1960s and 70s featuring a 173cc engine.

Royal Enfield Interceptor 350

Royal Enfield Flying Flea

As of now, there is no information about the RE Flying Flea nameplate. Though, the name is taken from the brand’s British roots during World War II.  The bike was designed especially for the British War office to carry signals and messages between airborne and assault troops where radio communications was not possible.

Royal Enfield Roadster

Rumour has it that the Roadster could be Royal Enfield’s larger displacement bike to challenge Harley-Davidson and Triumph. It might be a new engine platform based on the RE Concept KX that was unveiled at the EICMA.
