Royal Enfield Classic 650 Launch Planned – What To Expect?

Royal Enfield recently revealed its future plan that includes multiple new 350cc, 450cc and 650cc motorcycles. In fact, the company has started testing some of its upcoming products. RE’s upcoming 650cc range will have 6 new models, namely, Himalayan 650, Shotgun 650, Scrambler 650, Bullet 650, Classic 650 and a retro-styled Continental GT 650 racing motorcycle. Talking about the Royal Enfield Classic 650, the bike’s test mule was caught on camera without any camouflage earlier this year.

The new RE Classic 650 will share its platform and engine with the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. Most of its design elements will be similar to its 350cc model. The bike is likely to feature a retro-style circular headlamp, teardrop fuel tank, broad-chested riding ergonomics and round taillamp. There could chrome treatment surrounding headlamp, pillion grab handle and exhaust pipe.

The model might have a semi-digital instrument cluster, a colour TFT display, two trip meters, Tripper navigation display and switchgear similar to the Classic 350. The new RE cruiser might come with the USD forks upfront and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Braking system might include front and rear disc brakes along with the standard dual-channel ABS (anti-lock braking system).

As mentioned above, the upcoming Royal Enfield Classic 650 will derive its power from a 648cc, twin-cylinder engine that does duty in the RE Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. The motor delivers a claimed power of 47bhp at 7250rpm and a peak torque of 52Nm at 5250rpm. Transmission duties will be done by a 6-speed gearbox with slip and assist clutch.

As far as launch is concerned, the new Classic 650 is likely to make its first appearance in the second half of 2023 or early 2024. Its prices are likely to start from Rs 3.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
