Renault Kiger SUV Appears Sporty In New Rendering

Renault has officially released a new Kiger show car, which previews the brand’s upcoming sub-4 meter SUV for the Indian market. The company will introduce the production version of the Kiger SUV concept in the first half of 2021, most probably in March-April. The SUV will also go on sale in select international markets including Brazil and Indonesia.

Digital Artist, Kleber Silva has released yet another rendering of the upcoming Kiger, which appears closer to the production model. The rendering clearly suggests that it is based on the Kiger concept; however, there are some changes inspired by the Nissan’s upcoming Magnite sub-4 meter SUV. Renault has already confirmed that the production version of the Kiger SUV will retain 80 per cent of the concept’s design.

The rendering has black plastic cladding all-around the body, differently-styled machined-cut alloys and ORVMs with integrated blinkers. The rear design is a mix of Kiger concept and the Magnite. It source the roof-integrated spoiler with brake light, tail-lamp unit and tailgate from the Nissan Magnite, while the lower bumper with dual-exhaust system is shared with the concept.

The upcoming Renault Kiger SUV will have new interior, featuring new dashboard and centre console. It will have dark grey-black interior scheme and will be equipped with a floating 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The compact SUV will have automatic AC, multi-functional steering wheel, digital instrument console, dual glovebox, cruise control, around view monitor, etc.

Renault Kiger Concept Specs

The sub-4 meter SUV is designed and developed on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-A modular platform, which also underpins the Nissan Magnite. The new model will receive a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 99bhp and 160Nm of torque.  Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic. With automatic gearbox, the peak torque drop to 152Nm. The SUV could also receive the 1.0L NA engine that offers 72bhp and 96Nm, and paired to a 5-speed MT.
