Toyota Kirloskar Motor is gearing up to launch two updated models of its highest selling vehicles – Innova Cysta and Fortuner. According to a latest report, select Toyota dealers have started accepting bookings for the 2021 Toyota Fortuner facelift. While there is no official word on its launch timeline, it’s reported to hit showrooms early next year. Just so you know, the updated SUV was unveiled in Thailand earlier this year.
Under the hood, the new Toyota Fortuner 2021 might feature a more powerful version of the existing 2.8L diesel engine. The updated motor will deliver power worth 201bhp and 500Nm of torque, thus making it 26bhp more powerful. Transmissions, however, will remain unchanged. The updated model will come with the same 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearboxes.
Visually, the 2021 Toyota Fortuner will witness some significant changes (especially at the front end). The SUV will feature a newly-designed larger mesh-pattern grille, revised LED headlamps with LED DRLs, updated fog lamp enclosure, new bumper and silver skid plate. Significant changes will also be made inside the cabin. The Toyota Fortuner 2021 will get a large 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There will also be wireless mobile phone charging, ambient lighting, automatic climate control and powered front seats. Reports suggest that the SUV might also get a 360 degree camera.
Prices of the facelifted Fortuner could be slightly higher than the existing model that costs between Rs 28.66 lakh – Rs 36.88 lakh (all, ex-showroom). It will continue to take on the Ford Endeavour and the newly-launched MG Gloster.
