Renault Kiger Compact SUV Rendered; Inspired By Nissan Magnite

It is no secret that Renault is readying an all-new sub-4 meter SUV, codenamed HBC for the Indian market. The new model is rumoured to be called the Renault Kiger. It will be designed and developed on Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-A modular platform, which also underpins the new Nissan Magnite compact SUV.

Here is a rendering of the Renault Kiger, which is designed on the Nissan Magnite. The new rendering from Digital Artist Kleber Silva shows the possible design of the upcoming compact SUV. The front design is directly sourced from Renault’s bigger crossovers including the Megane and the Captur. It features a typical Renault’s bold front grille in black and chrome outline, and sharper headlamps with L-shaped LED DRLs. The lower bumper has mesh-pattern for the air-inlet. The side profile looks similar to the Magnite, featuring pronounced wheel arches, black plastic cladding, blackened pillars and ORVMs with integrated blinkers and usable roof rails. In fact, the rear seems identical to the Magnite. However, it gets differently styled tail-lamps connected by a light strip. This element is directly sourced from the Megane hatchback. The dual-tone bumper and faux silver skid plate is also shared with the Magnite crossover.

The Renault Kiger will be powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing around 96bhp and close to 160Nm of torque. Both manual and CVT automatic versions are likely to be on offer. The company could also add the 1.0L naturally-aspirated petrol engine, which produces 71bhp and 96Nm. Likely to cost around Rs 6 lakh – Rs 8.5 lakh, the Kiger will be one of the most affordable SUVs in its category. It will directly rival the petrol versions of the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Maruti Vitara Brezza and others.

The sub-4 meter SUV is also expected to be equipped with high-end comfort and convenience features like climate control, keyless entry and Go, push button start/stop, multi-functional steering wheel, a large touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity and others. Similar to the Nissan Magnite, the HBC could also receive 360 degree surround view camera and sunroof.
