Maharashtra Government Wants Tesla To Invest In The State

The Maharashtra Government is in talks with the Tesla, the American electric vehicle maker to make an investment in the state. Maharashtra Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray confirmed this news by a tweet.

Aaditya Thackeray and the state industries minister Subhash Desai had a video call with the Tesla team to discuss potential investment in the state. Commenting on the development, Thackeray said, “This evening I had the opportunity to participate in a video call by industries minister @Subhash Desai ji with Tesla team to invite them to Maharashtra. I was present not just because of investment but my firm belief in electric mobility and sustainability.”

He added that electric mobility is the way forward and the state government is committed to bring in new policy changes for sustainable development to make EVs mainstream.

We informed you earlier that Tesla is also in talks with the Karnataka government to set up a R&D (Research and Development) centre in Bengaluru. In fact, Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk tweeted that the process of introducing Tesla electric cars to India will start in January 2021. The plan cancelled due to high import and tax structure of India. Now, this electric car is produced at Tesla’s Shanghai based manufacturing facility. It is the most affordable Tesla car, which has a 60kW hour lithium-ion battery pack with RWD and AWD drivetrain system.
