Renault India is all set to mark its entry into the highly competitive sub-4 metre SUV segment next week. The French carmaker will roll out the all-new Renault Kiger SUV on coming 15th February 2021. Official bookings for the model will begin from the same day. Its deliveries, however, will be commenced in early March 2021. We have reported earlier that select Renault dealers have started accepting pre-bookings an initial sum of Rs 10,000 – Rs 25,000.
Once launched, the Kiger will face challenge from multiple cars including the newly-launched Nissan Magnite, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300 and Toyota Urban Cruiser. The carmaker has already revealed that its upcoming compact SUV will be priced quite aggressively.
If reports are to be believed, it could be more affordable than the Nissan Magnite that’s currently the cheapest vehicle in its segment. Engine setup of the Renault Kiger includes a 1.0L naturally aspirated petrol (72bhp/96Nm) and a 1.0L turbocharged petrol unit (100bhp/160Nm). There are three gearboxes on offer – a 5-speed manual (standard across the lineup), an AMT (naturally aspirated petrol only) and a CVT automatic (turbo petrol only).
Buyers will have multiple colour options to choose from including Mahogany Brown, Ice Cool White, Moonlight Silver, Caspian Blue, Planet Grey and dual-tone Radiant Red with Black roof (for top-end trim only). Read – Renault Kiger Vs Tata Nexon
Based on the CMF A+ platform, the Kiger has been packed with the first-in-segment PM2 5 clean air filter. Some of its other key features include an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, voice commands, automatic climate control, a 4-speaker, 4-tweeter Arkamys audio system, reverse parking camera, ambient lighting, push button start, keyless entry and more.
