Renault India To Launch 2 New Models In 2021

Renault India will expand its product portfolio with the Kiger subcompact SUV that’s slated to arrive early next year. In the sub-4 meter SUV space, it will face challenge from cars like Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and the upcoming Nissan Magnite. The Renault will be designed on the brand’s CMF-A+ platform that also underpins the Triber 7-seater MPV. Some of its design elements and features will be carried over from the Triber.

Besides this, the upcoming Kiger will share its engine and gearbox with its compact sibling. It will come with the 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine making power close to 95bhp. The carmaker might also offer naturally-aspirated version of the same gasoline motor. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic unit.

Some of its key features are likely to include an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, auto climate control, steering mounted audio controls and climate control, connected car technology, split headlamps, a V-shaped front grille with chrome and alloy wheels (for higher trims). The spy pictures confirm that the compact SUV will carry upright stance.

According to a latest report, the French carmaker will bring in the turbo-petrol version of the Triber after the Renault Kiger compact SUV. The model will feature the new 1.0L turbo petrol motor derived from the 1.3L, 4-pot HR13 unit that does duty in the Renault Duster. The same powertrain will be introduced in the upcoming Kiger and Nissan Magnite compact SUVs.

Renault Triber AMT

At present, the Renault Triber comes with a 1.0L, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox options. The unit has been tuned for generating power worth 71bhp at 6250rpm and 96Nm of torque at 3,500rpm. No other changes are likely to be made to the upcoming Triber turbo petrol model.
