RE Meteor’s 350cc Engine Offers More Power – Specs Leaked

Royal Enfield is all set to launch the long-awaited Meteor 350cc cruiser motorcycle in the country in the end of September 2020. Ahead of the launch, engine specifications and other details of the new RE Meteor 350 have been leaked on the Internet.

To be based on the new platform codenamed ‘J1D’, the new RE Meteor 350 will come as a replacement for the Thunderbird 350 and Thunderbird 350X. The new bike will be equipped with all-new 350cc air-cooled engine, which is claimed to deliver 20.2bhp of power and 27Nm of torque. Compared to the existing BS6 350cc engine, the new unit offers 0.4bhp more power and 1Nm less torque. The current unit produces 19.8bhp and 28Nm of torque. The new 350cc engine features SOHC (Single Over-Head Camshaft) setup.

The leaked details reveal that the new Meteor 350’s gearbox will offer smooth gear shifts. The motorcycle will support newly developed clutch and transmission system. The upcoming RE Meteor 350 will be made available in 3 variants – Fireball, Stellar and Supernova. The Meteor 350 Fireball will be the base model. It will receive coloured rim tape, different body graphics and decals and blacked-out components. The Stellar variant will have chrome treatment on handlebars, body-coloured parts and a backrest for the pillion. The range-topping Supernova variant will come with premium features like different and premium seat upholstery, machined alloys, chromed indicators, a windscreen and a dual-tone colour scheme.

The new Royal Enfield Meteor comes equipped with turn-by-turn navigation, which is called ‘Tripper Navigation’. The bike gets semi-digital twin-pod instrument console, Bluetooth support for turn-by-turn navigation, USB charger, etc. The motorcycle will ride on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels shod with 100/90 and 140/70 section tyres at the front and rear respectively. 

The new RE Meteor 350 will be offered in 7 colour options including Fireball Red, Fireball Yellow, Stellar Red Metallic, Stellar Matte Black, Stellar Blue Metallic, Supernova Brown dual-tone and Supernova Blue dual-tone.
