Tata Motors announced that the company managed to sell a total of 45,423 units (including EVs) in October 2022. It registered sales growth of 33% (YoY). The automaker retailed 34,155 units in the same month last year. When compared to September’s sales that stood at 47,000, Tata witnessed a monthly sales decline of 5 per cent in the passenger vehicle segment. For people not in the know, the company’s Pune based plant was planned to shutdown for preventive maintenance and debottlenecking actions that results production decline last month.
What’s interesting is Tata Motors recorded a massive growth of 158% in the EV (electric vehicle) segment over the same period previous year. Currently, the company’s EV product lineup includes three models – the newly-launched Tiago EV, Tigor EV and Nexon EV. In October 2022, Tata’s sales in the domestic and international market stood at 78,335 units against 67,829 units of the same month in 2021. The company recorded YoY sales growth of 17%.
Tata Motors’ domestic sales of MH&ICV (including trucks and buses) stood at 13,251 units as opposed to 11,612 units in October 2021. Its total sales for MH&ICV domestic and international business stood at 13,940 units against 12,723 units of the same duration last year.
Tata Motors’ Future Plan
The home-grown automaker has planned multiple new models across different segments that will start rolling out from early 2023. Reports suggest that the Tata Harrier facelift will hit roads early next year and the updated Safari will arrive by mid 2023. The company will also expand its EV model lineup with the Tata Altroz EV and Punch EV, which are reported to launch sometime next year. All aforementioned models are likely to debut at the Delhi Auto Expo in January, 2023. The company will also showcase the pre-production version of the Tata Curvv mid-size Coupe SUV at the biennial event.
