Tata Motors had opened bookings for the Tiago EV at 12 PM on October 10, 2022. The electric hatchback has received an overwhelming response from buyers, as it bags over 10,000 bookings on Day 1. Launched on September 30, 2022, the Tata Tiago EV is the country’s most affordable passenger electric vehicle. The hatchback was launched at a special introductory price of Rs 8.49 lakh to Rs 11.79 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
The introductory prices for the Tata Tiago EV was applicable for the first 10,000 customers. To celebrate the overwhelming response, Tata Motors has announced to extend the introductory pricing for an additional 10,000 customers. Out of these first 10,000 units, 2000 vehicles will be reserved for the current owners of Nexon EV and Tigor EV.
Speaking on the amazing response for Tiago EV, Mr. Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said, “We are delighted with the overwhelming response to the Tiago.ev and thank our customers for embarking on the EV journey. To acknowledge the passion to go EV and to firmly support the mass adoption of EVs we have decided to extend the introductory pricing to an additional 10,000 customers.”
The new Tata Tiago EV can be booked online or at authorised Tata Motors dealership by paying a token amount of Rs 21,000. While the test drives for customers will start from late December 2022, deliveries will only commence from January 2023. Before deliveries, Tata Motors will put the new EV on display across leading malls across major cities in October 2022.
The new Tiago electric is offered with two battery packs – 24kWh and 19.2kWh. While the former is claimed to offer a certified range of 315km, the later offers 250km of range in a single charge. The long-range version comes with a 55kW motor that offers 115Nm of torque. On the flip side, the limited range version is paired to a 45kW motor that develops 105Nm of peak torque. Tata Motors is offering an 8-year/1.6 lakh km warranty on battery pack.
The long-range model is claimed to achieve 0 to 60kmph acceleration in 5.7 seconds. The Tiago EV is offered with 4 charging options – a regular 15A home charger, 3.3kW AC charger, 7.2kW AC home charger and DC Fast Charger. The battery can be fully charged in 3 hours 36 minutes using 7.2kW AC Charger. With DC Fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 57 minutes.
