In the next couple of years, Tata Motors aims to expand its ICE-powered SUV model lineup and electric vehicle (EV) range. Talking about the company next year’s plan, it will introduce facelifted versions of its two popular SUVs – Harrier and Safari. The home-grown automaker will also add two new electric cars to its EV product portfolio, namely, the Altroz EV and Punch EV. Here’re some key details of the upcoming new Tata cars, which are slated to witness a market launch in 2023.
Upcoming New Tata Cars in 2023
Tata Harrier/Safari Facelift
The 2023 Tata Harrier and Safari facelifts are expected to receive noticeable changes inside and out. Though, the engine setup of both SUVs is likely to remain unchanged. Reports suggest that the updated Harrier and Safari could get the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) offering several advanced safety features. The SUVs might also be packed with a 360 degree camera, HUD (Head-Up Display) and automatic AC unit. The infotainment display will be bigger than before and support wireless smartphone connectivity. Under the hood, the new Harrier and Safari will employ the same 2.0L diesel engine with manual and automatic gearbox options. While the new Harrier is likely to go on sale early next year, the new Safari might hit roads in mid 2023.
Tata Altroz EV/Punch EV
Tata Altroz EV might be put up on display in its near-to-production or final avatar at the 2023 Auto Expo. The carmaker could also unveil the Tata Punch EV at the biennial event. Both EVs will be designed on the modified Alfa platform. For power, the electric SUV will use the brand’s updated Ziptron technology that’s already introduced on the Tata Nexon EV Max. However, the battery capacity, power figures and range could be different. A few EV-specific changes will also be made to their exterior and interior.
