Over 17,000 Units of 6 Maruti Suzuki Cars Recalled – Here’s Why

Maruti Suzuki has issued a recall of 17,362 units of its 6 popular models including Alto K10, Baleno, S-Presso, Eeco, Brezza and Grand Vitara. According to the company, units that were manufactured between December 8, 2022 and January 12,2023 had a faulty airbag controller, and have been recalled for replacement. The carmaker has warned customers of the suspected vehicles not to drive or use them before the replacement of the part.

In the official statement, Maruti Suzuki said that “it is suspected that there is a possible defect in the affected part, which in rare cases might result in non-deployment of the airbags and seat belt pretensioners, in the event of a vehicle crash.” The company. will contact owners of the affected models and the replacement of the part will be done at free of cost.

Recently, the Indo-Japanese automaker increased prices of its entire product lineup by around 1.1 percent. The new prices came into effect from 16th January 2023. The reason behind the latest price hike is said to be the inflation and recent regulatory requirements. Maruti Suzuki’s Nexa range has witnessed a price hike by up to Rs 25,000. While the Baleno and XL6 get expensive by Rs 12,000, the Ciaz and Ignis witnessed a price hike of Rs 20,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively.

No changes have been made to the newly-launched Maruti Grand Vitara. The mid-size SUV continues to be offered within the price range of Rs 10.45 lakh – Rs 19.49 lakh (all, ex-showroom). It’s India’s first compact SUV to come with the CNG fuel option. The Grand Vitara CNG comes in Delta and Zeta variants, packed with a 1.5L Dualjet, Dual VVT engine with a factory-fitted CNG kit. The setup delivers a claimed power of 87.8PS and 121.5Nm of torque. The model is said to offer a mileage of 26.6km/kg.
