Nissan To Launch 3 New SUVs, 1 MPV & 1 Small EV In India

Nissan is currently selling the Magnite sub-4 meter SUV in the Indian market. The company is planning to launch a significantly revised version of the SUV in 2024. Adding to it, Nissan will also start exporting the left-hand-drive Magnite to select international markets. While Nissan won’t have a new model in our market till 2025; however, the company plans to introduce 2 new SUVs, a new 1 MPV and an all-new small electric vehicle from 2025.

New Mid-Sized SUV – Launch In 2025

New Renault Duster Features

The Japanese automaker, Nissan will launch a new mid-sized SUV in our market by 2025. The new model will be based on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-B modular platform that also underpins the new generation Dacia Duster. Not just platform, this mid-sized SUV will share some interior bits and body panels with the new gen Duster that is also scheduled to be launched by 2025. The new model is likely to be offered with hybrid or mild-hybrid petrol engines.

This SUV will be built alongside the next-gen Duster at the Alliance’s Chennai based plant. Adding to it, this SUV will also be exported to few overseas markets. The new model will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Toyota Hyryder, Maruti Grand Vitara, MG Astor and others in its league.

New 7-Seater SUV – Launch By 2025-26

Renault will introduce the 7-seater version of the Duster SUV, which will also be designed & developed on the Alliance’s CMF-B modular platform. This SUV was first previewed as the Dacia Bigster concept. Similarly, Nissan will also launch a new 7-seater SUV in the country by 2025-26. This SUV will rival the likes of the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700 and others in the segment. It is also expected to receive strong hybrid petrol & mild hybrid engines.

New Three-Row MPV

Renault Triber AMT

Similar to the Kiger-Magnite twins, Nissan will also launch a new entry-level 3-row MPV based on the Renault Triber. This MPV will be built at Renault-Nissan Alliance’s production facility in Chennai. The new Nissan MPV will sit below the Magnite and will target customers looking for a mass market product that can seat multiple people. It will come as an affordable alternative to the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Kia Carens. The MPV will be powered by a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder NA petrol engine with manual and AMT gearbox options. It could also receive a 1.0L turbo petrol engine with manual and CVT automatic.

Nissan is also developing an entry-level hatchback, which will sit below the new Triber-based MPV. Set to be a global product, the new Nissan entry-level hatch will be an all-new electric vehicle. It will be based on the CMF-AEV platform, which will also underpin Renault’s entry-level EV.
