While the Sunny sedan is already discontinued from our market, Nissan India continues to export the mid-sized sedan to the Middle East. The export of the Magnite to LHD markets will also improve the brand’s plant utilisation as it only sells one model in India. Nissan is currently selling around 25,000 to 30,000 units of the Magnite sub-4 meter SUV per annum. With the export of the Magnite to Left Hand Drive market, the production volumes of the SUV could be increased to around 40,000 to 50,000 units per annum.

Nissan will also introduce a new midsize SUVs and A-segment electric vehicle in the Indian market between 2025 and 2027. While details about the new Nissan Magnite facelift are yet to be revealed, we believe that the SUV could receive subtle design changes and significantly revised interior. The SUV is expected to receive the existing powertrain options. It could also receive a CNG version.

The report also claims that Nissan is also considering multiple engine options including CNG, E-Power hybrid technology and pure battery electric vehicles. It is expected that Nissan could bring the E-Power hybrid technology with the new mid-sized SUV in the country. This technology will also help the Japanese brand to meet the CAFE norms.
