Nissan Magnite Production-Ready Model To Be Unveiled Tomorrow

The production version of the Nissan Magnite compact SUV will finally make global debut in India tomorrow. It is expected to be launched in the next 3 months, most probably in January 2021. The new model was designed and conceptualised in Japan for the Indian market. This sub-4 meter SUV will also go on sale in select international markets including Indonesia and Brazil.

Previous media reports suggest that the Nissan Magnite compact SUV could be priced as low as Rs 5.25 lakh. Nissan claims that the sub-4 meter SUV will come with “an array of best-in-class and first-in-class features”. The company has recently released some partially-camouflaged images of the Magnite SUV, which reveals some of the design details.

Nissan Magnite Launch Date

The SUV’s production model will look largely identical to the concept. This SUV was earlier planned to be launched under the Datsun nameplate. It features a typical Datsun-like large octagonal grille, flanked by angular headlamps and a sculpted bonnet. Other design highlights include pronounced wheel arches, body cladding, layered rear bumper, LED tail-lamps and a roof-mounted spoiler.

It is reported that the Nissan Magnite will receive features like 360 degree camera, cruise control, sunroof and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and Nissan T-Connect connected car technology, and automatic AC. It is based on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-A modular platform that also underpins the Renault Triber. This platform will also underpin the upcoming Renault Kiger sub-4 meter SUV.

Nissan Magnite Interior

The Nissan Magnite compact SUV will be powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine in naturally-aspirated and turbocharged versions. While the NA engine is capable of producing 72bhp and 96Nm of torque, the turbocharged version is likely to produce close to 95bhp and 160Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed manual, AMT and CVT. The sub-4 meter SUV will come as an affordable alternative to the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Maruti Vitara Brezza and others.
