Nissan Magnite Launch Next Month – Expected Prices, Details

The Japanese carmaker is ready to launch the Nissan Magnite subcompact SUV in India next month (November, 2020). Official launch date and booking details, however, are yet to be revealed by the company. Based on the Renault-Nissan alliance’s CMF-A modular platform, the new Nissan compact SVU will take head-to-head against the cars like Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300 and the upcoming Renault Kiger.

If reports are to be believed, the Magnite might undercut all its rivals. Its prices are likely to start from Rs 5.3 lakh for the entry-level variant and Rs 7.5 lakh for the fully packed turbo CVT variants. Nissan-Renault alliance’s Oragadam based plant will serve as global production hub for the Nissan Magnite.

Engine details of the new Nissan compact SUV haven’t officially announced. Though, it’s likely to come with two powertrains – 1.0L, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol and new 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol. While the former will make power around 72bhp, the latter will be more powerful delivering around 95bhp. A 5-speed manual gearbox will be standard across model lineup. The higher trims could be exclusively offered the segment-first CVT automatic gearbox. There will be no diesel engine on sale.

Nissan has equipped the all-new Magnite with some segment-first features including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360 degree camera, largest 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, full 7.0-inch TFT instrument cluster with built-in tyre pressure monitor and 6-speaker JBL audio system. The SUV also offers Nissan Connect technology with over 50 features. It’s claimed to offer best-in-class should and knee room in the front row along with luggage space of 336-litres and an option to fold the 60:40 split rear seat backrests.

With respect to safety, the Nissan Magnite SRS dual airbags, vehicle dynamic control, traction control, anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), hill start assist and anti-roll bar for tight cornering at high speeds.
