The long-awaited third-gen Hyundai i20 will finally go on sale in the Indian market on November 5, 2020. Interested buyers can pre-book the new i20 online or visiting authorized dealerships by paying an initial token amount of Rs 21,000. The new i20 engine specifications have already been out. This time, the engine-wise ARAI certified fuel economy figures have been leaked on the web.
The new Hyundai i20 will come in 3 engine options – a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol, a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-diesel. While the 1.2L MT is claimed to return an ARAI certified fuel economy of 21kmpl, the 1.2L CVT version delivers 19.65kmpl. The 1.0L iMT and DCT versions will return 20kmpl and 20.28kmpl respectively. The 1.2L engine is capable of producing 82bhp and 114Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic. The 1.0L turbocharged engine produces 118bhp and 172Nm of torque. For transmission duties, this variant gets iMT (6-speed Intelligent Manual Transmission) and a 7-speed DCT (Dual-Clutch transmission). Paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox, the 1.5L diesel engine is capable of producing 99bhp and 240Nm of torque.
The new Hyundai i20 will be offered in 8 colour options – Sun Burn Sway, Polar White, Typhoon Silver, Fiery Red, Starry Night and Titan Grey, 2 Tone Black with White and Fiery Red with Black. In terms of features, the new i20 gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Navigation and Voice Recognition, and Hyundai’s BlueLink Connected Car Tech, multi-functional steering wheel, air purifier with virus protection, wireless charging system, cruise control, automatic AC, sunroof, Bose premium sound system, rear view camera, etc.
