Unofficial bookings of the upcoming Nissan Magnite subcompact SUV have been commenced at select dealerships. The booking amount ranges from Rs 11,000 to Rs 25,000. Official bookings and prices of the compact SUV are likely to be announced in coming weeks. Deliveries might begin by early December. The model lineup will be spread across four trims – XE, XL, XV High and XV Premium. The carmaker will also offer a Technology pack that might cost around Rs 25,000 – Rs 30,000.
Engine setup of the upcoming Nissan compact SUV will include two petrol motors – a 72hp, 1.0L, naturally aspirated and 100bhp, 1.0L turbo unit. While the former will come with a 5-speed manual gearbox, the latter one will be offered with 5-speed manual and CVT automatic gearbox options. The CVT turbo-petrol motor will produce 152Nm of torque, which is around 8Nm less than the manual version. There will be no diesel engine option.
The Magnite will be one of the well-equipped yet affordable vehicles in its segment. Some of its key features include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice recognition, a 7-inch TFT instrument console, a multi functional steering wheel, an around view monitor display on screen, height adjustable driver’s seat and more. On the safety front, the compact SUV will have multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, seat belt reminder, hill start assist, traction control, rear camera with projection guide, vehicle dynamic control, etc.
As mentioned above, the official price announcement is likely to be made in the next few weeks. As per leaked information, the Nissan Magnite will be priced as low as Rs 5.50 lakh for the base variant and up to Rs 9.55 lakh for the top-end model. The turbo-petrol variants are expected to be priced around Rs 1 lakh premium over the naturally-aspirated petrol models. If launched in the price range, the Magnite will become one of the most affordable compact SUVs in the country.
