Nissan Magnite 4-Star ASEAN NCAP Crash Test Video & Details

ASEAN NCAP has officially released the video and detailed crash test report for the new Nissan Magnite sub-4 meter SUV. The SUV scored 4 star crash test rating earlier this month.

The Nissan Magnite is based on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-A modular platform, which also underpins the Triber MPV and the upcoming Kiger sub-4 meter SUV. According to the ASEAN NCAP report, the Magnite received 39.02 points and 16.31 points for adult occupant protection and child occupant protection respectively. In the safety assist category, the Magnite scored 15.28 points.

The report claims the Magite offers adequate protection to front passenger’s chest and lower legs on front collision. However, the front impact test showed risk of injury to the driver’s chest. ASEAN NCAP claims that SUV’s compartment remained stable in the frontal offset test. Data also showed the driver’s chest had adequate protection during the side impact test.

The SUV tested was equipped with dual front airbags, ESC (Electronic Stability Control) and Seatbelt reminder system for both front occupants. Adding to it, the SUV has ISOFIX and top tether as standard. Based on the accumulated score of 70.60 points, the Nissan Magnite received a 4-star ASEAN NCAP rating.

The Nissan Magnite is available with two engine options – a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol and a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol. While the former is good for 71bhp and 96Nm of torque, the turbo unit produces 99bhp of power and 160Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox driving the power to the front wheels come as standard. The turbo unit also gets a CVT automatic gearbox; however, the peak torque has been dropped to 152Nm. On the fuel efficiency front, the Magnite 1.0L naturally-aspirated petrol offers 18.75kmpl and turbo-petrol delivers 20kmpl with manual and 17.7kmpl with automatic gearbox.
