Nissan Magnite Secures 4-Star Crash Test Rating In ASEAN NCAP

Nissan had introduced the Magnite sub-4 meter SUV in India on December 2, 2020. The SUV has received positive response from buyers, as it commands a waiting period of 8-9 weeks. The company has also introduced the Magnite compact SUV in the Indonesian market. The Nissan Magnite has scored 4 stars in the ASEAN NCAP crash test.

While the details about the crash tests and pictures are yet to be released, ASEAN NCAP stated that the new Nissan Magnite obtained 4 star ASEAN NCAP rating in the crash test. In a press statement, ASEAN NCAP said, “based on the overall score, ASEAN NCAP is pleased to announce that the new Nissan Magnite had successfully obtained 4-Star ASEAN NCAP rating in the assessment. Details of the results will be released soon.”

This could be a big boost for Nissan Motor Company, as buyers in India have started taking safety on priority before buying a new model. The ASEAN NCAP crash test speeds are similar to that of the Global NCAP.

The Nissan Magnite was launched at a starting price of Rs 4.99 lakh. The company has announced that the prices of the new model will be increased by Rs 55,000. The base variant of the compact SUV will be priced at Rs 5.54 lakh (ex-showroom).

The sub-4 meter SUV is available with two petrol engine options – a 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol with 5-speed manual gearbox and a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol with 5MT and CVT automatic. While the former is good for 72bhp and 96Nm of torque, the turbocharged engine offers 99bhp and 160Nm of torque. The torque drops to 152Nm with CVT automatic transmission. On the fuel efficiency front, the Magnite 1.0L naturally-aspirated petrol offers 18.75kmpl and turbo-petrol delivers 20kmpl with manual and 17.7kmpl with automatic gearbox. Nissan Magnite Interior Review

In terms of features, the Magnite is equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and built-in voice recognition, and an Around View Monitor. It gets a 7-inch TFT instrument console with built-in tyre pressure monitor, Nissan Connect connected car technology, air purifier, JBL speakers, wireless charger, ambient lighting, etc. For safety and security, the Nissan Magnite gets hill start assist, vehicle dynamic control, traction control, SRS dual airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), and anti-roll bar for tight cornering at high speeds.
