Tata Motors has revealed two new turbo petrol engines at the 2023 Auto Expo. These two engines will power the Sierra, Harrier, Safari and the Curvv SUVs, which will be launched from 2024 onwards. Not just powertrains, Tata Motors has also revealed the new Sierra, Harrier EV and the Curvv concepts at the auto event.
Tata Motors has revealed the new 1.2L 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. These engines are manufactured using aluminium, and are claimed to offer improved performance and better fuel efficiency. The new 1.2L direct injection turbo petrol engine is capable of producing 125bhp at 5,000rpm and a peak torque of 225Nm of torque between 1,700 and 3,500rpm.
The 1.5-litre 4-cylinder direct injection turbo petrol engine is capable of producing 170bhp of power at 5,000rpm and a peak torque of 280Nm between 2000rpm and 3500rpm. Both engines will be offered with manual and automatic gearboxes.
The 1.2L turbo petrol engine will debut with the Curvv SUV Coupe in 2024, while the 1.5L engine will first be offered on the ICE version of the Sierra. The new Tata Sierra is scheduled to be launched in 2025. The report further claims that the new 1.5L engine will also be offered with the Harrier & Safari facelifts. We believe that the next-gen Safari and Harrier will receive this engine. This turbo petrol engine could also be offered with the Curvv SUV Coupe.
