It is no secret that Ford is testing the next generation Everest (Endeavour) on some international roads. The SUV was caught testing in Australia and in Europe, and the latest spy images come from Thailand. Ford has recently revealed the new-gen Ranger, and its sister model – the next-gen Ford Endeavour or Everest will make its global debut in 2022.
Ford has recently announced a big investment to upgrade its Thailand based production facility. This production unit will act as a production hub for the next generation Everest and the Ranger.
The latest spy images reveal the next-gen Ford Endeavour front design. The SUV’s front design is similar to the new Ranger, featuring boxy and upright design. The big difference is the presence of new front bumper. The side profile till the front door is similar to the Ranger. The changes is visible behind the front doors, as it gets an elongated body to accommodate three-row design.
The SUV gets a strong shoulder line that runs across the length; however, the window line seems identical to the outgoing model. Big changes will also be made at the rear end, as it will have new raked tail-gate and new tail-lamps with LED elements. While the external sheet metal is new, the core body structure of the 2022 Ford Endeavour is expected to be carried over from the existing model.
Interior details are yet to be revealed, but is likely to share the cabin design with the new Ranger. It will have a large central portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity and connected car tech. Adding to it, the SUV will have a digital instrument console, a large panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control and many more.
Australian media reports that the 2022 Ford Endeavour will feature the longer dash-to-front-axle ratio, similar to the 2022 Ranger Pick-up. This could be done to accommodate the option of a turbo-diesel V6. It is reported that the new Endeavour will come in 3 engine options – two diesel and a new petrol plug-in hybrid. It will also receive a new off-road focused Wildtrack X variant.
It will get a 2.0L twin-turbocharged diesel engine producing 210bhp of power and 500Nm of torque. There will be a new 3.0-litre turbocharged 6-cylinder diesel engine which will produce 250bhp and 600Nm of torque. This engine currently powers the American-spec Ford F-150. The SUV will also receive a 2.3-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine with a plug-in hybrid system. It is reportedly to produce around 270bhp of power and 680Nm of torque.
