Next 2 Big Launches From Skoda, Volkswagen – All Details Here

Skoda Auto Volkswagen India had revealed its ambitious plan under its India 2.0 project that includes a range of new models. The new products will be entirely developed in India with high level of locally sourced components. The Skoda Kushaq is the first model to launch under the brand’s new plan, which will soon be followed by the Volkswagen Taigun. Skoda’s next upcoming model will be a mid-size sedan based on the India-specific MQB AO IN platform that’s reported to be named – Skoda Slavia.

Here’s a brief on the next two upcoming Volkswagen and Skoda models.

Volkswagen Taigun

Volkswagen India is ready to launch the Taigun mid-size SUV on 23rd September 2021. The new VW SUV shares its platform, interior features and engines with the Kushaq. Though, the German carmaker made some cosmetic changes and added some extra goodies to the Taigun. It offers a digital instrument cluster, electronic stability control (standard) and dashboard integrated touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity and My Volkswagen connect app. The Volkswagen Taigun will be offered with the 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbo and 1.5L, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engines offering 115bhp and 150bhp respectively. It will be made available with three gearbox options – 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic and 7-speed DCT unit.

Skoda Slavia

The Czech automaker released the first teaser image of its upcoming mid-size that will be based on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB AO IN platform that also underpins the Kushaq and VW Taigun SUVs. The new sedan is reported to come as a replacement to the Skoda Rapid. The Skoda Slavia will be bigger and more spacious than its replacement. It’s expected to sit on the segment’s longest wheelbase of 2651mm and offer a large boot space. Under the hood, the new Skoda sedan will feature a 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbo petro engine pushing out power worth 113bhp and 200Nm. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be offer. Rumour has it that the Slavia might also come with the 1.5L turbo petrol motor making 147bhp and 250Nm.
