New Yamaha R3 and MT-03 Price Announcement On December 15

Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer, Yamaha is all set to bring back its hugely popular fully-faired motorcycle, the R3 in the Indian market. Not just the R3, Yamaha will also launch the new MT-03 naked streetfighter in the country. The new Yamaha R3 and the MT-03 will go on sale on December 15 with deliveries to commence by the end of the next month.

Yamaha had showcased the new R3 and the MT-03 to media at the Madras International Circuit in July this year. Adding to it, both bikes were unveiled at the recently concluded Indian MotoGP. The report claims that the deliveries of the new motorcycles will take place across over 100 cities nationwide. The motorcycles will be sold through select Blue Square Yamaha dealers across the country.

Yamaha R3 Specs

Few Yamaha dealers have already started accepting orders for the new Yamaha R3 at a token amount of Rs 5,000. Both bikes are powered by a 321cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that churns out a peak power of 42bhp at 10,750rpm and a peak torque of 29.5Nm at 9,000rpm. The engine is coupled to a 6-speed gearbox.

Based on the diamond-type frame, the new Yamaha R3 and the MT-03 comes with an upside down front fork and a monoshock at the rear. For people not in the know, the previous generation R3 was equipped with a conventional telescopic fork. The new R3 has a seat height of 780mm and a ground clearance of 160mm. It sits on a 1380mm wheelbase and has a kerb weight of 169kg. It rides on 17-inch alloys wrapped in 110/70 and 140/70 section front and rear tyres, respectively.

2023 Yamaha MT-03

The new Yamaha MT-03 is basically the naked version of the R3. It comes with LED projector headlights with LED DRLs, muscular fuel tank with sharp creases, USD front forks and monoshock at the rear. Both bikes will have 298mm front and 200mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS.

Both motorcycles will attract high pricing, as they will be introduced as CBUs (Completely Built-Up Units). The R3 will rival the KTM RC390, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the Ninja 400, while the MT-03 will challenge the new KTM Duke 390.
