New Yamaha R3 Bookings Open at Dealership Level – Key Details

Unofficial bookings for the upcoming new Yamaha R3 have been commenced at a token sum of Rs 5,000. Its launch date is yet to be announced. Though, its expected to go on sale in coming months and deliveries might begin in late July or early August, 2023. Just so you know, the Japanese two-wheeler maker displayed the Yamaha R3, R7, R1M, MT-03, MT-o7 and MT-09 bikes at a dealer conference.

For power, the new Yamaha R3 uses a 321cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that dishes out a peak power of 42bhp at 10,750rpm and 29.5Nm of torque at 9,000rpm. It has a 6-speed gearbox. The bike has a seat height of 780mm and a ground clearance of 160mm. It sits on a 1380mm long wheelbase and carries a kerb weight of 169kg. The R3 offers a fuel tank capacity of 14-litres.

Yamaha R3 Specs

The new Yamaha bike has been equipped with upside-down fork and monoshock suspension at the front and rear axles respectively. It rides on 110/70-R17 front and 140/70-R7 rear tyres. The R3 derives its braking power from the 298mm front and 220mm rear disc brakes.

Once launched, the new Yamaha R3 will go head-to-head against the Kawasaki Ninja 300, Ninja 400 and KTM RC 390.

Upcoming Yamaha Bikes

The Japanese two-wheeler maker will also introduce the MT-03 sports naked bike, MT-07 and MT-09 street naked motorcycles in coming months. While the Yamaha MT-07 comes with a 689cc parallel-twin (73.4bhp/63Nm) engine, the MT-09 sources power from a 890cc inline triple-cylinder motor (117bhp/93Nm).

The fully faired sportsbike – Yamaha R7 – will be introduced to challenge the Honda CBR650R and Kawasaki Ninja 650. The Yamaha R1M superbike will also go on sale very soon. The bike is powered by a 998cc inline, 4-cylinder engine that’s good enough for 200bhp. The upcoming Yamaha big bikes will come via CBU route and expected to cost premium.
