New Yamaha R15S Launch Soon – What To Expect?

According to a leaked homologation document, the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer will soon launch the new Yamaha R15S in the country. It’s expected that the company might re-launch the Yamaha R15V3 as R15S. As per the details revealed by the type approval certificate the model will come in two variants – R15 and R15S. The latter one could be the variant with pricier colour options. Both new variants will be positioned below the newly-launched Yamaha R15V4.

The new Yamaha R15S will use the same BS6-compliant 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine delivering power worth 19.3PS at 10,000rpm and 14.7Nm. It will have a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch. The overall length, width and height of the upcoming Yamaha R15S will stand at 1990mm, 725mm and 1135mm respectively. The bike will sit on a 1325mm long wheelbase and carry a GVW (gross vehicle weight) of 292kg. Similar to the Yamaha R15V3, the new (or renamed) model will come with features such as the standard rear radial tyre, side stand engine cut off-switch and dual horn setup.

 Talking about Yamaha Motor India’s future plan, the company aims to expand its product portfolio with the new premium 125cc scooter and 150cc-250cc bikes in coming years. With its new premium range, the Japanese two-wheeler maker will target new and experienced riders. In order to increase its customer base, the company will also focus on metro cities and surround districts.

Yamaha aims to mark its entry into the electric vehicle segment, but before that it will focus on hybrid technology. The company recently rolled out the Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid and Yamaha RayZR 125 Fi Hybrid scooters. Recently, the two-wheeler maker introduced the new-generation Yamaha R15 V4 and R15M, which are priced at Rs 1.67 lakh and Rs 1.77 lakh respectively.

The Yamaha Aerox 155 is the new maxi-scooter from the Japanese two-wheeler maker in the country. The model lineup comes in two colour options – Grey Vermillion and Racing Blue. For power, it uses a 155cc, engine that’s good enough for 15.4bhp and 13.9Nm.
