Yamaha To Launch Premium 125-250cc Bikes and Scooters

Yamaha Motor India aims to tap the premium two-wheeler segment in coming years. The Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer will bring in the new premium 125cc scooter and 150cc – 250cc bikes. The brand currently has 20% market share in the sub-quarter-litre two-wheeler segment. Motofumi Shitara, Yamaha Motor India Chairman, has revealed that the company is planning to increase its market share with strategic product portfolio. The new Yamaha premium model lineup will target new and experienced riders.

The upcoming new Yamaha premium bikes and scooters will be packed with advanced technologies and features. The brand’s new premium product range will also include racing-inspired models as customers are now opting high-performance and higher displacement two-wheelers.  Yamaha will also focus on metro cities and surround districts to young buyers who have largest share in the Indian two-wheeler market. The company has high hopes with its newly-launched Yamaha YZF0R15 V4 and Yamaha Aerox 155.

The Japanese two-wheeler maker will also foray into the electric vehicle segment in coming years. The company is currently contemplating on different development aspects including EV pricing, battery production and charging infrastructure. Before rolling out EVs, Yamaha will focus on hybrid technology to bridge the gap between EVs and ICE vehicles. Recently, the company introduced the Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid and Yamaha RayZR 125 Fi Hybrid scooters in the country.

Talking about the newly-launched Yamaha R15 V4, the bike comes in Standard and R15 M variants that has been priced at Rs 1.67 lakh and Rs 1.77 lakh respectively (all, ex-showroom). Buyers have four colour options to choose from – Racing Blue, Dark Knight, Metallic Red and Monster Energy. Powering the new Yamaha R15 V4 and R15M is a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that’s good enough for 18.4PS and 14.2Nm. The bike gets new bi-functional LED headlamp with LED DRLs, revised fuel tank and fairing, new heat shield for exhaust, tweaked rear quarter and a cast aluminum swingarm.
