Yamaha Motor Company is planning to expand its scooter portfolio in coming months. According to a fresh media report, the Japanese two-wheeler maker might introduce a new 155cc premium scooter by 2021 Diwali. While there is official word on the new product launch, the report further states that it could be the Yamaha Sniper or Yamaha NMax 155.
The company recently unveiled the new Sniper 155 and Sniper 155R scooters for Philippines. One of the major highlights of the new Sniper is its 155cc, liquid-cooled, 4-valve SOHC engine that’s benefited with VVA (variable valve actuation) technology. The system ensures smooth riding in low rpm range and at high speeds. The same engine does duty in the India-spec Yamaha R15 V3.0 and MT-15.
The motor pushes out a peak power of 17.9PS at 9500rpm and 14.4Nm of torque at 8000rpm. It has a 6-speed gearbox with assist and slipper clutch. This new Yamaha 155cc scooter features dual LED headlamp with turn indicators, body graphics, sharp fairing, body coloured alloys, elevated tail section and slightly upswept blacked out exhaust.
Talking about the Yamaha NMax 155, the scooter derives power from a 155cc, liquid-cooled VVA engine that’s good enough for 15.4bhp and 13.9Nm. It’s a maxi-scooter and currently available in multiple Asian markets including Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand. Some of key design elements include LED headlamp, blacked out alloy wheels, raised floorboard and pillion seat and black treatment around the foot mounts and side slung exhaust. This new Yamaha 155cc scooter is offered in three colours, namely, Maxi Signature Black, Matte Blue and Prestige Silver.
In other updates, the Japanese two-wheeler maker is working on the new-generation fully-faired Yamaha YZF-R15 that was recently spotted testing in the country. The new model is likely to witness significant design changes especially at the rear end, inspired by Yamaha R7.
