New TVS Cruiser Patent Reveals Design Details – Royal Enfield Fighter

The middleweight bike segment (ranging from above 250cc to 800cc) is growing in India. As per SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers), the sales of middleweight motorcycles increased from 733,779 units in FY21 to 7,54,153 units in FY22. Royal Enfield is currently dominating the segment at both fronts domestic and global. Two-wheeler manufacturers such as Baja Auto, Triumph, BMW, Kawasaki, TVS and Suzuki Motorcycle India are other players in this space.

With an aim to further expand its product portfolio, TVS Motor Company will introduce a new middleweight cruiser to challenge the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 or Super Meteor 650. While the TVS remained tight lipped about its upcoming cruiser motorcycle, its design patent has been leaked on the web. The image shows its neo-retro design language with features such as circular headlamp, a curvy fuel tank, USD front forks and a single exhaust pipe. There might be dual shock absorbers at the rear axle.

TVS Premium Bikes

You can notice that the upcoming TVS cruiser will have a large engine. Its specifications are still under the wraps. Though, the motor is likely to have a displacement around 650cc-700cc with single or twin-cylinder setup. As mentioned about, the new cruiser from TVS will be put up against Royal Enfield’s Meteor 350 or Meteor 650. The RE Meteor 350 uses a 349cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor that’s good enough for 20.2bhp and 27Nm. The RE Meteor 650 comes with a 648cc, parallel-twin engine pushing out a peak power of 47bhp and 52.3Nm of torque.

What’s More From TVS?

The Chennai-based two-wheeler maker plans to launch a new premium bike in fiscal year 2023-24. There will also be a range of “the latest generation products with cutting edge performance and technology.” TVS is working two new bikes that will be based on the Apache RR310 and come with the 312.2cc, single-cylinder reverse-inclined, liquid-cooled engine.
