Maruti Suzuki Invicto – How Different From Innova Hycross?

The Indo-Japanese automaker is ready to bring in its first re-badged Toyota on 5th July 2023. Called the Maruti Suzuki Invicto, the premium MPV will be based on the Innova Hycross and manufactured at Toyota’s Bidadi plant. Booking window will be officially opened on 19th June 2023. Though, select Toyota dealers have already started accepting pre-orders for the model. The carmaker says that they won’t expect it to generate volume, but help improve its brand image. While its platform, dimensions, features and powertrains will be exactly similar to the Toyota Innova Hycross, a few cosmetic changes will be made to differentiate from its donor model.

What will be different?

Mostly changes will be made at the front end. The fresh set of spy images reveals that the new Maruti Invicto has front grille similar to the Grand Vitara with Suzuki’s badge in its middle. The bumper also appears different from Toyota. The alloy wheels and tailgate will have Suzuki’s logo. Inside, the steering wheel and seat upholstery will feature the brand’s moniker.

Upcoming Maruti MPV

The Invicto model lineup could be limited to a few variants and will be priced slightly premium over the Innova Hycross counterparts. Toyota’s three-row MPV is currently available within the price range of Rs 18.55 lakh – Rs 19.45 lakh for non-hybrid petrol variants and Rs 25.03 lakh – Rs 29.99 lakh for the strong hybrid variants. What will be the same?

The new Maruti Invicto will be designed on Toyota’s TNGA-C platform and have a monocoque chassis. It will be offered with the 2.0L, 4-cylinder Atkinson cycle strong hybrid and 2.0L petrol engine options. While the strong hybrid version makes power worth 184hbp with an e-Drive transmission, the petrol model is good for 172bhp and 205Nm with a CVT gearbox. Mileage figures of the new Maruti MPV are likely to be similar to the Toyota Innova Hycross. The latter delivers a claimed fuel efficiency of 23.24kmpl with the hybrid powertrain and 16.13kmpl with petrol unit.

Interior layout out also be carried over from the Innova Hycross. The Maruti Suzuki Invicto MPV will come with the 7 and 8-seats configurations featuring two captain’s chairs for the middle row and bench seats for second and third rows respectively. The 7-seater’s captain seats will have ottoman function. In terms of features, the Invicto will offer a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, 9-speaker JBL sound system, 360 degree camera, tyre pressure monitoring system, hill hold assist and vehicle stability control.

Several first things for a Maruti!

Being a flagship model, the Maruti Suzuki Invicto will have several advanced comfort goodies and safety features. Several of them will be the first for any Maruti Suzuki in India. The Invicto will come with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, powered driver seat with memory function, dual zone climate control, premium sound system, front parking sensors, ottoman seats, 18-inch alloy wheels, electric parking brake, powered tailgate and ADAS. The ADAS suite will include features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, automatic high beam, blind spot monitor and rear cross traffic alert.
