Earlier this year, Toyota Kirlosker Motor introduced the new Fortuner with refreshed looks, up-market interior and a more powerful diesel engine. The automaker also added a new range-topping Fortuner Legender variant featuring sportier design elements and Pearl White paint scheme with black roof. The 2021 Toyota Fortuner has been offered with the 2.7L petrol and 2.8L diesel engines making 166bhp with 245Nm and 204bhp with 420Nm (MT)/500Nm (AT) respectively. The SUV model lineup comes with three gearbox options – a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
While the Fortuner petrol is available with 2WD (two-wheel-drive) only, the diesel model can also be had with a 4WD (four-wheel-drive) system. At present, the Legender variant is available with 2WD drivetrain system and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. According to a fresh media report, the automaker will soon expand the SUV model lineup with a new 4WD variant. While there is no official word on its launch date and details, the new 2021 Toyota Fortuner Legender 4X4 is reported to launch on 8th October 2021. In fact, the company has already started dispatching the new 4X4 model across its dealerships.
Price of the 2021 Toyota Fortuner Legender 4X4 variant is expected to be around Rs 1.50 lakh – Rs 1.70 lakh higher than its 4X2 automatic variant. While the new model is estimated to cost around Rs 40 lakh, the latter one comes with a price tag of Rs 38.3 lakh. The updated Fortuner is currently available in seven variants (five 4X2 and 2 4X4) priced between Rs 30.34 lakh – Rs 38.3 lakh. All aforementioned prices are ex-showroom. In terms of design and features, the new Fortuner Legender 4X4 will be exactly similar to its 4X2 counterpart. Compared to the standard model, it features the differently styled split grille, LED projector headlamps with unique pattern for the LED DRLs, sequential LED turn indicators, differently designed alloy wheels with gloss finish and a hands-free tail gate opening function.
